AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister Rajai Muasher on Sunday received Yemen’s Foreign Affairs Minister Khalid Yamani, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.

The meeting came as the Foreign Ministry released a statement on Sunday saying that the Kingdom is still considering a UN request to host the second phase of Yemini talks between the government and the Houthis.

The statement added that the government will deal with the request according to its main goals, which focuses on contributing to reaching a quick solution to the Yemini crisis in coordination with Yeminis, according to the ministry statement.

During the meeting, which was attended by Secretary General of the Prime Ministry Sami Dawood and the Yemeni Ambassador to Jordan Ali Amrani, the two parties discussed ways of enhancing bilateral relations, the latest developments in Yemen and regional issues of common interest.

Muasher stressed that Jordan was ready to support any effort leading to a peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis.

Yamani briefed Muasher on the latest Yemeni developments, voicing his appreciation for Jordanian support towards Yemen.

Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh also met with Yamani, and affirmed Jordan’s keenness in ending the Yemeni crisis.

Tarawneh said that Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah’s leadership, supports Yemen and its efforts to achieve security and stability, affirming the Kingdom’s support to the legitimate government in Yemen and the coalition to restore its legitimacy to alleviate suffering and end the conflict.

He underscored Arab efforts to support central Arab issues, including the Palestinian cause, noting that the Arab world is now encountering complicated and difficult situations due to internal splits and external interference.

Yamani said Yemen appreciates Jordan’s role, under Hashemite leadership, in backing Yemenis and their legitimate government.

Yamani also met with Interior Minister Samir Mubaidin, who highlighted ministry measures to facilitate Yemenis’ entry into Jordan.

Mubaidin affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to keep Yemen united and stable.

According to the ministry statement, the UN mission in Jordan will be informed of the Kingdom’s response with regards to hosting a meeting between the Yemeni government and the Houthis, as soon as possible.
