MSF launches mental health project for Syrian refugee children

AMMAN — Doctors without Borders (MSF) launched a mental health project in Mafraq, 80km northeast of Amman, on Tuesday targeting children of Syrian refugees and their mothers, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The project is expected to serve the children of Syrian refugees who are suffering from the trauma of the conflict in Syria.

The project also covers Jordanian nationals. MSF’s head of mission in Jordan, Erwan Grillon, said that the organisation is running a psychiatric centre in Irbid, 80km north of Amman, which serves around 120 patients a month.

This led MSF to expand its work to Mafraq, 80km northeast of Amman, as it is the third largest host of Syrian refugees in Jordan and lacks medical and social services, especially in the rural areas of the governorate.
