AMMAN — The Moroccan embassy in Amman on Sunday celebrated the 47th anniversary of the Green March, a Moroccan national occasion, according to an embassy statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
During a ceremony attended by Jordanian political and legal figures, Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan Mohammad Nasseri commemorated the Green March, a peaceful demonstration in which 350,000 Moroccans went to Western Sahara to retrieve the territory in 1975.
The ambassador also noted the "brotherly" ties between King Mohammed VI and His Majesty King Abdullah and expressed pride in Jordan’s stance in support of Moroccan unity, referencing the inauguration of a Jordanian consulate in the Western Saharan city of Laayoune in 2021.
