AMMAN — Education Minister Omar Razzaz on Saturday said his ministry is planning a “serious discussion” with different segments of society to evaluate and update the education process, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During a meeting with Jordan Teachers Association President Basil Freihat and members of the association’s council, Razzaz noted that the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi), and school tests in general, need to be reviewed and improved.
Razzaz said that ways to improve the performance of Tawjihi examination should be considered in light of the 50 per cent pass rate. The minister added the curricula should be reformed to encourage critical thinking and creativity rather than rote learning.
