Minister says Jordan, Spain to sign cooperation agreement on water

AMMAN — Water Minister Raed Abul Saud participated in a Jordanian-Spanish water forum in Madrid recently, in the presence of the Spanish minister for the ecological transition, Teresa Ribera, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The forum aimed to enhance cooperation in water and sanitation, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Abul Saud said that the ministry works at full capacity on a set of plans and strategies to meet the growing demand for water, appreciating the ongoing support of Spain to the water sector in the Kingdom.
He also said that Jordan and Spain will sign an agreement of understanding on water management, groundwater and renewable energy, which will be funded by the Spanish government.
Spanish Ambassador to Amman Aránzazu Bañón pointed out that Jordan encounters big challenges, related to the influx of Syrian refugees, affirming the Spanish government keenness to support Jordan through developing water systems.
