AMMAN — The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organisation (JSMO) on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global safety science firm UL.
The agreement seeks to bolster economic ties between Jordan, the UAE and the US, where UL has its headquarters, by increasing cooperation in the areas of standardisation, measurement, conformity evaluation, testing and management systems, according to a statement by UL. The agreement, signed in Amman at JSMO premises, was attended by the US embassy’s economic counsellor and representatives from UL Middle East and JSMO.
Haydar Al Zaben, Director General of JSMO, said: “JSMO was established to protect the rights, health and safety of the citizens and the environment. Through collaboration with key strategic partners, it ensures the best international practices are implemented and maintained thereby strengthening the public confidence in safety of products and services.”
