AMMAN — Akeed, an online platform that monitors the credibility of local media outlets (akeed.jo), on Thursday said the news of air force pilot Muath Kasasbeh’s death has been handled by local media outlets with a mixture of professionalism and sensationalism.
In a report published on its website, Akeed said some websites sought to publish scoops without considering the humane and moral aspects of the matter, circulating “graphic” photos and videos.
The report said respecting human dignity is a key factor in journalism, and media outlets have to keep in mind that these scenes have negative psychological effects on viewers.
