AMMAN — The Criminal Court prosecutor is currently investigating the alleged stabbing death of a man following a brawl in Amman on Tuesday night, official sources said.
The 35-year-old victim received a single stab to the chest following an argument with a group of men in east Amman’s Marka neighbourhood and was rushed to a nearby hospital, Police Spokesperson Col. Amer Sartawi said.
"Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim and one of the suspects were neighbours," the police official told The Jordan Times.
Sartawi added that investigators rushed to the scene and arrested several people "on suspicion of taking part in the stabbing incident".
The Criminal Court prosecutor is currently questioning the suspect to learn more about the incident, a second official source told The Jordan Times.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem conducted by a team of government pathologist at the National Institute for Forensic Medicine indicated that the victim died of a fatal stab wound to the chest, a senior medical source said.
"The knife penetrated the victim's lungs causing an internal bleeding, which caused his death," the senior medical source told The Jordan Times.
