AMMAN — Search and rescue teams pulled the final body from the rubble of a collapsed building in the Jabal Luweibdeh neighbourhood, bringing an end to an arduous 84-hour operation, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced on Saturday.

PSD Spokesperson Amer Sartawi said that the collapse caused 14 deaths and 10 injuries, according to a list of people who were in the building at the time of the collapse, noting that PSD has not received any information on any other missing people.

The Social Development Ministry provided shelter to the families displaced by the collapse as well as for families from adjacent buildings.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the detention of three people pending an investigation.

Those arrested include an heir of the owner of the building who was responsible for supervising the property, the building’s maintenance contractor and a maintenance technician.
