AMMAN — Several MPs on Tuesday signed a memorandum and referred it to the Lower House speaker’s office to urge the government to impose "strict censorship” on Netflix for broadcasting materials that "violate public order and manners", according to the memo, a copy of which was made available to The Jordan Times.
Lawmakers also asked the government to send a "warning" to Netflix, which offers streaming services on the Internet at cheap prices.
The MPs said that the platform "broadcasts content that violates social and religious values". The lawmakers added that this memorandum aims to preserve society from Netflix's content, which "contradicts the instincts of normal human beings and leads to the destruction of families".
