AMMAN — A Lower House delegation has participated in the United Nation's High-level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which was recently held at the UN headquarters in New York.

The delegates, headed by MP Zaid Otoum, reviewed Jordan's outlook in relation to SDG 17, which revitalises the global partnership for sustainable development, and the other SDGs, particularly SDG 16, which promotes just, peaceful, and inclusive societies, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the forum, Otoum briefed on the Jordanian perspective regarding the role of the Parliament in supporting the SDGs and efficiently exercising its oversight function in this area.

The lawmaker said that without a Parliament capable of exercising its role, there will be no effective oversight to achieve SDGs, calling for empowering the Parliament to practice its role through UN's spread of awareness among MPs on SDGs.
