Lower House committee endorses amendments to Competition Law

AMMAN — The Lower House’s Economy and Investment Committee on Sunday endorsed a number of articles stipulated in the bill amending the Competition Law for the year 2022.
Heading the committee, MP Omar Naber said, in the presence of Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali, Minister of State for Legal Affairs Nancy Namrouqa, Head of the Senate’s Labour and Social Development Committee Issa Mourad, and representatives of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, that the amendments aim to ban practices impeding fair competition and prevent market monopoly.
He stressed that the committee will consider all proposals and recommendations submitted by private companies and institutions to create a modern law that keeps pace with the Economic Modernisation Law.
