AMMAN — The Lower House's Foreign Affairs Committee on Friday warned the Israeli authorities against restrictions on access for Christians to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in occupied Jerusalem.

The committee said that Israel's measures against Christians are "rejected and condemned," especially as Christians are celebrating Easter this Sunday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The committee chairperson MP Khaldoun Heina stressed the need for Israel to refrain from measures limiting the freedom of worship in the holy places in occupied Jerusalem.

Heina reiterated that Jordan, according to the historical Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, will continue to take all possible steps to protect the holy sites and preserve Jerusalem's historical and legal status as a key to peace and a symbol of tolerance and harmony.

The committee warned against the continued Israeli violations against Palestinians and Jerusalemites.
