Local polls part of ‘comprehensive reform march’ — Zu’bi

AMMAN —The Decentralisation Law is part of the “comprehensive reform march” to improve services to the public and social participation in decision making, Interior Minister Ghaleb Zu’bi said Saturday during a workshop, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The workshop titled “Launching the Decentralisation Implementation Process” was organised by the Interior Ministry in cooperation with the Partners International Foundation. Zu’bi said that his ministry is preparing its staff to perform their designated tasks and is restructuring development directorates around the Kingdom according to the Decentralisation Law.
For her part, PIF representative Jackie Smith highlighted the importance of understanding the roles practised at various levels and encouraging communication between citizens and those who implement projects, in addition to drawing up budgets for governorates in order to succeed with the implementation of decentralisation.
