AMMAN — The Libyan mission in Amman on Saturday praised Jordan's efforts to support the Libyan people in the aftermath of devastating floods caused by Storm Daniel.

Libya’s Ambassador to Jordan Abdulbaset Al Badri  expressed his gratitude to Jordan, including its government and citizens, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, for its unwavering solidarity and support to the Libyan people.

He specifically commended Jordan's provision of essential logistical and medical assistance, the deployment of an international search and rescue team from the Public Security Directorate.

The ambassador highlighted the telephone conversation between His Majesty King Abdullah and the Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohammed Younes Al Menfi, in which the King stressed Jordan’s solidarity with the people and government of Libya at this difficult time.

Badri announced that the embassy will open its doors to the public to express their condolences on Sunday from 4pm to 6pm, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The Jordanian International Search and Rescue Team arrived in the city of Derna on Friday and immediately began assisting Libyan citizens affected by the floods. The 88-member team includes five doctors from the Royal Medical Services.

Jordan dispatched aid planes to Libya last Wednesday and Thursday. The first mission carried essential supplies, including tents, blankets, mattresses and food parcels, while the second plane carried the search and rescue team and essential logistical and medical supplies.
