AMMAN — Labour Ministry Secretary General Hamadah Abu Nijmeh on Thursday inaugurated the first phase of the solar cells project that was set up and activated at the ministry’s main building earlier this month.
Abu Nijmeh said that the project is a response to the government’s plan to reduce public expenditure by switching to renewable energy.
Executive director Amani Freihat said 134 solar panels were set up at a cost of JD50,000, and the project is expected to save JD1,800 from the ministry’s monthly bill, which is usually between JD6,000 and JD8,000.
She added that the second phase of the project will be dedicated to installing solar cells at the ministry’s second building in Abdali.
