AMMAN — Details of the meeting between Labour Minister Nidal Bataineh and the Development and Employment Fund’s (DEF) borrowers committee, held last week, that are being circulated on social media are inaccurate, Labour Ministry Spokesperson Mohammed Khatib said on Thursday.
Khatib pointed that the meeting tackled three key points, the first of which is the promise to resolve the case of the DEF’s collective borrowers, which has already been done. Secondly, Bataineh stressed that under the new resolutions, public funds will not be tampered with.
Thirdly, any potential protests must be held in accordance with the law for the freedom of expression. The cases of borrowers from various categories have been solved through a process of rescheduling loans at lower interest rates, Khatib highlighted.
