AMMAN — The Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JNRCS) began a campaign conducting surgeries for Syrian refugees in Jordan, with the participation of Kuwaiti specialist doctors and the support of the Kuwait Finance House (KFH), the JNRCS announced on Thursday.

The campaign, carried out in cooperation with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), comes within the tripartite agreement to implement several relief and health projects dedicated to Syrian refugees, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing a JNRCS statement.

The surgeries will be carried out over two phases, as 90 surgeries will be conducted in the first, while the second includes 100, with the aim to alleviate the suffering of Syrian refugees in Jordan's camps, villages and cities, the society explained.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, JNRCS President Mohammad Hadid lauded KRCS' support provided over the past years, which played a role in alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable groups in society, especially Syrian refugees.

Highlighting services provided to Syrian refugees with the KRCS' support, Hadid referred to the health clinic dedicated to treating Syrian refugees, especially children and women.

Hadid also highlighted other efforts to alleviate refugees' suffering, mainly distribution of foodstuff parcels and medical kits round the year, lauding all supporters' continuous efforts and contributions in this regard.

Kuwaiti Ambassador to Jordan Aziz Al Daihani expressed appreciation of the Kingdom's hosting of Syrian refugees over the past years, commending the JNRCS-KRCS efforts to implement this humanitarian work.

Meanwhile, KRCS President Hilal Al Sayer praised the role of Kuwaiti doctors and their efforts to complete this humanitarian medical campaign, calling for continuing this effort that contributes to saving lives.
