AMMAN — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) and the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) on Monday launched an emergency food aid initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable Jordanian families, and Palestinian and Syrian refugees across the Kingdom.
The programme is expected to benefit around 25,000 people across the Kingdom, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
A JHCO statement revealed that the project involves distributing food vouchers that can be redeemed at participating grocery stores in various governorates, which allows recipients to select essential food items based on their individual needs, preserving their dignity and freedom of choice.
The organisation emphasised that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to boost humanitarian collaboration with KSrelief, towards easing the economic burdens facing underprivileged families and enhancing food security in the region.
KSrelief Branch Director in Jordan Naif Shammari noted that the initiative is designed to meet the daily nutritional needs of the most vulnerable segments of society, including low-income Jordanians and refugees, as part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian mission to support stability and wellbeing in neighbouring countries.
JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli expressed appreciation for the continued support from KSrelief, noting that the partnership underscores the “deep-rooted” ties between Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
He added that this joint effort plays a vital role in addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations, especially amid ongoing economic challenges.
