AMMAN — The Korean government donated $1.55 million to UNICEF earlier this year in support of the humanitarian response to the Syrian refugee crisis in Jordan, according to a statement released by UNICEF Monday.
The contribution will focus on increasing access to education for Syrian refugees.
“...The plight of children occupies the central attention of the Korean people,” the statement quoted Korean Ambassador to Jordan Choi Hong-ghi as saying.
Over 150,000 vulnerable children in refugee camps and host communities are expected to receive improved access to formal and alternative education services through this support, according to UNICEF.
