Kingdom's trade deficit up by 30.5% by end of October 2021

AMMAN — Jordan’s trade deficit until the end of October of 2021 increased by 30.5 per cent to reach JD7.060 billion, compared with the same period in 2020, which amounted to JD5.412 billion, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
According to the Department of Statistics (DoS), in its monthly foreign trade report issued on Sunday, the total value of exports increased by the end of October of 2021, by 15.9 per cent, to reach JD5.330 billion, compared with the same period in 2020, which amounted to JD4.597 billion.
The value of national exports increased by the end of October of 2021 by 18.1 per cent, an equivalent to JD4.848 billion, compared with the same period in 2020, which amounted to JD4.105 billion.
However, the report indicated that the value of re-exports amounted to JD482.5 million by the end of October 2021, a decrease of 2.1 per cent, compared with the same period in 2020 with JD493 million.
As for imports, they rose by the end of October of 2021 by 23.8 per cent, reaching a value of JD12.391 billion, compared with the same period in 2020 with JD10.010 billion.
The report showed that the total coverage ratio of exports to imports amounted to 43 per cent by the end of October of 2021, with a decrease of 2.9 per cent in comparison with the same period in 2020 when the ratio reached 45.9 per cent.
