AMMAN  — His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday telephoned French President Francois Hollande and expressed his condolences and sympathies over the victims of the terrorist attack on the Paris offices of the weekly satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo (Charlie Weekly).

Twelve people, including two police officers, were killed and another 20 people were injured, including four or five critically, in the attack that occurred on Thursday, according to news agencies.

In the telephone conversation, King Abdullah expressed Jordan’s solidarity with the victims’ families, and the French people and leadership to overcome this ordeal, according to a Royal Court statement.

The King denounced the “cowardly” terrorist attack, stressing the importance of intensifying the international community’s efforts to confront the dangers of terrorism and radicalisation, and to combat them effectively and efficiently, in a manner that precludes their dangers.

Hollande thanked King Abdullah for his condolences and his condemnation of the terrorist attack.

On Thursday, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh denounced the attack.

During a meeting in Paris with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius, Judeh condemned the shooting and reiterated Jordan’s position in support of the international community to combat terrorism.
