King, UN chief discuss dangerous developments in Gaza, its surroundings

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, in a phone call received Monday from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, discussed the latest dangerous developments in Gaza and its surroundings.

During the call, the importance of self-restraint, protecting civilians, and respecting international humanitarian law was stressed, according to a Royal Court statement.

King Abdullah noted the United Nations’ role in calling for stepping up international efforts to end the escalation in Gaza and its surroundings.

His Majesty reiterated his warning that the region will not enjoy peace nor security in the absence of a just solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
