King says Arabisation of JAF leadership major milestone in Arab Army's history

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, on Tuesday saluted all army personnel through the JAF Radio Station, on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the Arabisation of army leadership.

During a visit to the radio station, the King said the impact of the late King Hussein’s decision to Arabise the army’s leadership “still resonates in our hearts and minds”.

His Majesty extended his congratulations to Jordanians, and the personnel of JAF and security agencies on this occasion, stressing that Jordan will stand firmly against all attempts to undermine its stability and security.

The King, accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, also visited JAF headquarters, and was received by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, General Intelligence Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Husni, Public Security Directorate Director Maj. Gen. Hussein Hawatmeh, and senior officers.

During a meeting with the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, directors of security agencies, and senior officers, the King discussed several issues related to JAF and security agencies.

His Majesty highlighted the important role of JAF and security agencies, and their professionalism in safeguarding Jordan’s borders and maintaining security and stability, stressing the need to equip the armed forces with the latest technology.

Turning to the Arabisation of JAF leadership, the King said it was a major milestone in the history of the Arab Army, which has proven itself at the regional and international levels, for its professionalism and competency.

For his part, Maj. Gen. Huneiti said the Arabisation of JAF leadership started a new phase in the history of the armed forces, underlining the achievements of the army and security agencies in the first centennial of the Jordanian state.

Huneiti reaffirmed that JAF has witnessed remarkable advancement under King Abdullah’s leadership, in terms of organisation, equipment, training, operations, logistics and human resources.
