King reiterates need to restore security, stability in Yemen

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met with Yemeni Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al Alimi, in New York, and discussed the situation in Yemen and efforts to end the crisis.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings and attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, covered means of bolstering the deep-rooted bilateral ties, according to a Royal Court statement.

King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan’s support for efforts to restore the security and stability of Yemen and its people.

His Majesty said Jordan continues to support the UN special envoy for Yemen’s mission, which is based in Amman, as well as the efforts to extend the truce in Yemen.

For his part, Chairman Alimi expressed appreciation of Jordan’s efforts in support of Yemen’s unity and stability.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan attended the meeting.
