King meets US treasury secretary

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

The meeting, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, covered means of bolstering ties and the strategic partnership between the two countries, with King Abdullah expressing appreciation for the support provided by the United States for economic and development projects in Jordan, according to a Royal Court statement.

For her part, Secretary Yellen highlighted the deep-rooted partnership between the US and Jordan, noting the economic challenges faced by the Kingdom, which are exacerbated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She commended the reforms Jordan is implementing to promote sustainable growth and provide employment opportunities.

Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan and Jordan’s Ambassador in Washington, DC, Dina Kawar attended the meeting.
