King Abdullah met separately with members of the Senate Armed Services, Foreign Relations, and Appropriations committees, according to a Royal Court statement.

The meetings, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, focused on means of bolstering the historical relations between Jordan and the United States, to enhance their strategic partnership and expand new horizons of cooperation in various sectors.

Discussions also addressed Jordan’s implementation of economic reform programmes to enhance growth and create job opportunities.

His Majesty expressed Jordan’s appreciation of the United States’ ongoing support for projects and development programmes in Jordan, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting on regional developments, the King reaffirmed the need to push the peace process forward, and relaunch negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, on the basis of the two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Furthermore, discussions addressed efforts to find political solutions to regional crises and restore stability, in addition to efforts to fight terrorism within a holistic approach.

For their part, members of US Senate committees reiterated their support for Jordan’s role in enhancing regional stability, expressing trust in His Majesty and his role.

They also commended the King’s wisdom in navigating regional challenges, commending reform efforts in Jordan.
