AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah and Italy Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Monday discussed the dangerous developments in Gaza and means to allow the delivery of urgent medical and relief aid to the Strip.

King Abdullah, during the meeting in Rome on Monday, reaffirmed the need for the international community to indiscriminately condemn the targeting of innocent civilians, noting that international law and international humanitarian law apply to all regardless of their nationalities, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty called for ensuring the immediate delivery of humanitarian and medical aid to the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of urgently supporting UNRWA and facilitating the provision of aid to the Palestinians.

The international community must move to end the war on Gaza and prevent its expansion into the West Bank and the region, the King stressed, calling for rejecting the policy of collective punishment.

His Majesty reiterated Jordan’s rejection of attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinians from all Palestinian Territories and cause their internal displacement, warning against a spill-over into neighbouring countries.

The King called for creating a political horizon to guarantee prospects for just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution, and international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The meeting also covered means to bolster cooperation between Jordan and Italy across various sectors, while maintaining coordination between the two countries on the dangerous developments in Gaza.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Jafar Hassan, Jordan’s Ambassador to Italy Qais Abu Dayyeh, and a number of senior Italian officials attended the meeting.
