King meets Iran FM

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday met with Iran Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and stressed the importance of the second Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership in maintaining support for Iraq.
At the meeting, attended by HRH Crown Prince Hussein, King Abdullah also stressed the importance of the conference in examining means of developing regional cooperation to serve mutual interests, according to a Royal Court statement.
His Majesty received a letter from Iran President Ebrahim Raisi, delivered by the minister, which covered bilateral ties and means to bolster them.
For his part, the Iranian foreign minister stressed the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship in safeguarding holy sites in Jerusalem.
The meeting also covered the need for political solutions to regional crises, and the importance of building ties based on good neighbourliness and non-intervention in the internal affairs of states.
Bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern were also discussed at the meeting, attended by officials from the two countries.
