AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received a telephone call from Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi, according to a Royal Court statement.
The phone conversation focused on the latest regional developments, especially anti-terrorism efforts, the statement said.
The King renewed Jordan's support for the Iraqi government's terror-combating efforts, commending the triumphs the Iraqi forces are achieving in the war against Daesh terror group.
Means to enhance bilateral relations in all fields and reopen the Amman-Baghdad Highway to resume trade movement between the two countries were also discussed, according to the statement.
The highway, a vital trade route in the region, has been closed due to the presence of terrorists in western Iraq, posing a security threat to shipments heading for Iraq by land.
