— King reaffirms rejection of Iran’s attacks on Jordan, on countries in region
— His Majesty underlines need for intensified efforts to de-escalate ongoing situation
– King, world leaders affirm need for restraint, dialogue to resolve crises, spare region further escalation
AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday, during which they affirmed their rejection of Iran’s attacks on Jordan and a number of countries in the region.
His Majesty warned of the serious consequences of these attacks on regional peace, reiterating the need to respect the sovereignty of states and the safety of their peoples, according to a Royal Court statement.
The call also covered the need to step up international efforts to de-escalate the ongoing situation, with the King underscoring the need to prevent the conflict from being exploited to impact the situation in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza.
Also on Tuesday, the King received a phone call from Indonesia President Prabowo Subianto, during which the two leaders discussed the dangerous developments in the region.
His Majesty emphasised the need to stop Iranian attacks on countries in the region, which violate international law and infringe on the sovereignty of states, another Royal Court statement said.
The two leaders affirmed the need for restraint and dialogue to resolve crises and spare the region further escalation.
During another phone call from Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday, the two leaders underlined the need to respect the sovereignty of countries and de-escalate tensions in the region.
His Majesty emphasised the need for effective international coordination to spare the region the repercussions of the current crisis, according to a Royal Court statement.
The King also reiterated that Jordan will continue to take all necessary measures to preserve its security, the safety of its citizens, and its sovereignty, the statement said.
Also on Tuesday, His Majesty received a phone call from Comoros President Azali Assoumani.
During the call, the two leaders discussed the dangerous developments in the region, a Royal Court statement said.
His Majesty emphasised that Iran’s targeting of Jordan and a number of countries in the region undermines efforts to achieve regional stability, calling for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the crisis.
