King holds summit meeting with Kuwait emir

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah on Monday reiterated the deep-rooted relations between Jordan and Kuwait, which, they said, constitute a model in the joint Arab action based on consultation and coordination in the face of challenges.

During their talks at Dasman Palace in Kuwait, both leaders voiced their keenness to further develop strategic cooperation at all levels in a way that serves the interests of both countries and the Arab causes and peoples, according to a Royal Court statement. 

At the meeting, attended by HRH Prince Ali, King Abdullah expressed his appreciation for Kuwait for its continued support for Jordan, in dealing with various challenges, especially economic ones.

In this regard, His Majesty, who returned to Jordan later on Monday, underlined the Kuwaiti investments in the Kingdom, which reached advanced levels in vital sectors that made them among the biggest and most important Arab investments in Jordan.

Deliberations, attended by Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, addressed the latest developments in the Middle East, especially in Syria and Iraq, and highlighted the importance of reaching political solutions to them so as to enhance the security and stability of the regions’ nations.

The summit meeting also discussed regional and international efforts to fight extremism and terrorism, as well as means to fight these dangers within a joint comprehensive strategy.

At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Sabah welcomed His Majesty’s visit, reiterating Kuwait’s keenness to further bolster its brotherly relations with Jordan and support it under all circumstances, the statement added. 

High-ranking Jordanian and Kuwaiti officials attended the meeting.

 

Sheikh Sabah hosted an iftar banquet in honour of His Majesty King Abdullah and the accompanying delegation, attended by high-ranking Kuwaiti officials.
