AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah and French President Emmanuel Macron, in a phone call on Wednesday, discussed the dangerous developments in Gaza and the West Bank.
His Majesty reiterated Jordan’s rejection of attempts to annex land and displace Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, stressing the need to support the steadfastness of Palestinians on their land, a Royal Court statement said.
The King also commended France’s position as expressed by President Macron in rejecting the displacement of Palestinians and calling for respecting Palestinians and their neighbours.
His Majesty stressed the need to step up international efforts to maintain the Gaza ceasefire and enhance the humanitarian response, the statement said.
The King called for an end to settlement activities, and warned against the dangers of the ongoing escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
His Majesty urged working effectively to reach just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 4 June 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
