King exchanges Eid greetings with leaders, performs prayer in Aqaba

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday exchanged Eid Al Adha greetings with King Mohammed VI of Morocco over the telephone.

On Saturday, the King received cables on the occasion of Eid from leaders of Arab and Muslim states and exchanged phone calls with them, a Royal Court statement said.

His Majesty exchanged greetings with Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isaa Al Khalifa, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Jaber Al Sabah and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The King also exchanged Eid greetings with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev; Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi deputy crown prince, deputy prime minister and special envoy to the king; and Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi crown prince and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces. 

Also on Saturday, His Majesty joined worshippers in performing Eid prayers at Al Haras Al Malaki Mosque in Aqaba, some 330km south of Amman.

The King and the worshippers listened to the Eid sermon delivered by the grand mufti of the Kingdom, Sheikh Abdul Kareem Khasawneh, in which he highlighted the value of tolerance in Islam.
