AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Friday took to Twitter to highlight Jordanians’ determination in facing threats as the country marked the 13th anniversary of Amman’s tragic bombings.

In his Tweet, King Abdullah said that the painful Amman bombings “showed the world the strength of Jordanians’ resolve in the face of all threats”.

“The Jordanian people have proved, time and again, that Jordan, the land of tolerance and fellowship, will always stand tall against the forces of darkness,” His Majesty added.

A group of extremists perpetrated terrorist attacks targeting three hotels in Amman on November 9, 2005, killing 60 people and injuring 200.

Using explosive belts, the terrorists bombed three hotels: the hotel formerly known as Radisson SAS at 9:30 pm, followed by two other suicide bombings a few minutes later at the Hayatt Hotel and Days Inn.

Senate President Faisal Fayez said that the Kingdom, with His Majesty’s resolve, Jordanians’ awareness and the resilience of security apparatuses, will stay strong in the face of evil and terrorist groups, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Fayez added that such circumstances and challenges require Jordanians to unite to enhance the internal front, so as to counter the threats of all extremists and terrorists.

Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh said that the incident, after 13 years, made Jordanians stronger and more resilient, Petra added.
