AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday exchanged congratulatory letters to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Jordan and China.

In a letter to the Chinese president, King Abdullah highlighted the deep-rooted bilateral ties, and the fruitful exchanges over the past four decades at all levels, especially in the economic field, according to a Royal Court statement.

His Majesty stressed the importance of the strategic partnership agreement signed in 2015 between the two countries, expressing his commitment to continuing developing the relations between Amman and Beijing.

Developing economic ties remains a top priority, King Abdullah noted, underlining the potential for further cooperation in the fields of oil shale, renewable energy, infrastructure, technology, investment and trade.

His Majesty wished Xi success and good health, and more progress and prosperity for the people of China.

The King received a similar letter from the Chinese leader, in which he stressed his country’s commitment to enhancing relations with Jordan, and expanding strategic ties between the two countries.

The president said ties between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the People’s Republic of China grew over the past 40 years in all fields, especially in regional and international coordination and consultation, as well as in cooperation in economic, commercial, cultural and educational fields.

President Xi reaffirmed his keenness on working with His Majesty to boost Jordanian-Chinese partnership to achieve the best interests of both peoples.

He also expressed his confidence that bilateral ties will keep growing, and wished Jordan further progress and prosperity.
