AMMAN — A specialised urogynaecology and pelvic floor reconstruction team at the King Hussein Medical City’s (KHMC) Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology on Tuesday performed a specialised surgery to treat uterine prolapse using advanced laparoscopic techniques.
The procedure, known as Laparoscopic Lateral Mesh Suspension, was carried out for the first time in the Kingdom, according to Al Mamlaka TV.
The head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology speciality said that the 39-year-old patient sought treatment for third-degree uterine prolapse. Given the potential impact of traditional surgical methods on her future quality of life, the medical team opted for this advanced technique as a suitable option for her age and condition.
He added that the introduction of such procedures aligns with the Royal Medical Services’ (RMS) vision to develop medical capabilities and qualify specialised personnel.
He said the RMS remains committed to providing the latest and highest standards of healthcare. A follow-up examination conducted two weeks after the surgery showed that the patient is in stable condition and that the procedure was successful.
