KHCF partners with USAID on national home care initiative

AMMAN — With support from the USAID Jordan Competitiveness Programme, the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC) launched a national home care initiative.

The effort, which will be led by KHCC, aims to advance the home care services industry in Jordan by scaling up the centre’s own home and palliative care offerings and creating a centre of excellence offering education and training to other service providers.

Speaking at a signing ceremony held at KHCC, HRH Princess Dina Mired, the director general of KHCF, hailed the home care initiative as “a national project which aims to ease the suffering of many patients who would suffer in pain if such services did not exist”.

Asem Mansour, the director general of KHCC stressed the importance of the project for cancer patients, adding it has succeeded in developed countries, but is still in its early stages in developing countries. Extending the reach of home care services is a key part of USAID’s commitment to improving healthcare access for all of Jordan’s residents, added USAID Mission Director Jim Barnhart.
