AMMAN — The King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC) on Sunday obtained accreditation for its oncology nursing residency programme from the American Centre for Nursing. After meeting all the conditions and requirements, the centre will be the first in Jordan and the second in the Middle East to obtain such accreditation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The programme aims to increase the efficiency of newly graduated nurses, who constitute the largest percentage of nurses in the labourmarket, and to help them provide safe and high-quality nursing care for cancer patients, said KHCC Chief Nursing Officer Majeda Afif.
Afif added that the programme includes four basic stages over a period of 39 weeks, and ends with a comprehensive examination and graduation project in quality improvement or a research project.
