AMMAN — Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Jordan Talgat Shaldanbay on Tuesday highlighted his country’s ambitious digital transformation plans and reaffirmed strong ties with Jordan during a roundtable discussion in Amman.
The meeting, held at the Bristol Hotel with the participation of journalists and academics, was dedicated to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s recent State of the Nation Address, “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Solutions through Digital Transformation”.
Shaldanbay said the address, delivered on 8 September, set out wide-ranging reforms aimed at securing long-term resilience through digitalisation, economic modernisation and institutional change.
Among the headline initiatives were the creation of a Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, the adoption of a new Digital Code, and the establishment of a State Digital Asset Fund. These steps, he stressed, are designed to accelerate digital modernisation and strengthen competitiveness across multiple sectors.
During the discussion, the ambassador also reviewed the history of Jordanian-Kazakh relations, describing them as “deep and evolving”. He noted the steady progress Kazakhstan has achieved in digital, economic and political fields, while stressing that cooperation with Jordan continues to expand in education, culture and investment.
Responding to a question from The Jordan Times, Shaldanbay emphasised Kazakhstan’s inclusive approach to healthcare, noting that minorities and refugees enjoy equal access to medical services and social protection “as if they were citizens”.
He also underlined that Kazakhstan maintains “good and friendly” relations with neighbouring countries, built on dialogue and mutual respect.
The envoy’s remarks came against the backdrop of His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to Kazakhstan in August, which was described as historic in reinforcing bilateral ties.
During that visit, the King and President Tokayev witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements and attended the closing session of the Jordanian-Kazakh Business Forum in Astana.
The Astana forum also underscored the growing momentum in Jordanian-Kazakh relations, moving beyond traditional diplomacy into concrete areas of cooperation.
Participants stressed that expanding business partnerships is not only about trade, but also about building long-term strategic links that serve regional stability and open new horizons for both nations.
