AMMAN — The Greater Karak Municipality has named the main square of Karak Castle “The Martyrs’ Square” and renamed some streets after the fallen police and gendarmerie personnel who were killed in the recent terror attacks in the southern city.

The municipality also donated JD1,000 each to the families of the fallen security personnel, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Friday. Karak Mayor Mohammad Maaytah, during a meeting in the presence of governorate MPs, said these decisions are meant to “honour the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country”.

In the security operations against terrorists in Karak last week, 7 security personnel died on Sunday and four others were killed on Tuesday.
