AMMAN — On the occasion of the World Standards Day, the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organisation (JSMO) issued a statement, vowing high performance and quality services.
The World Standards Day (WSD) falls on October 14 annually. This year’s celebration comes under the slogan “A Shared Vision for a Better World: Standards for Sustainable Development Goals.”
The organisation emphasised the importance of partnerships to achieve the sustainable development goals, aimed to address social imbalances, develop a sustainable economy and confront climate change.
On the occasion, JSMO Director General Abeer Zuhair said the organisation will continue its efforts to develop the quality infrastructure to support economic development and community well-being.
To date, Zuhair noted the JSMO has issued more than 3,000 Jordanian standard specifications and technical bases in various sectors, including renewable energy, sustainable cities, and environmentally friendly construction products.
Zuhair stressed the “vital” role of standardisation in promoting economic growth and raising the quality of national products, which increases their “competitiveness” in global markets.
Since its establishment, she stated the JSMO has sought to develop “quality” infrastructure activities, in coordination with relevant authorities and in accordance with the best international practices.
“The JSMO renews its commitment to working hard to develop standard specifications that align with future needs and create appropriate solutions to economic and climate challenges. The organisation looks forward to achieving further cooperation with its partners in the Kingdom’s public and private sectors to realise a shared vision for a sustainable future.”
