AMMAN — The Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF), in partnership with the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ), held a panel discussion titled: "Circular Economy: Jordan's Opportunity to Promote Economic Growth."

JSF President Sharif Fares Sharaf said that this event constitutes a platform for sharing expertise and discussing global trends in the circular economy, as well as investment opportunities that can help Jordan achieve resource sustainability, preserve the environment and promote innovation, according to a statement posted on the JSF statement.

Sharaf stressed the importance of working with all stakeholders to streamline the legislative environment governing the circular economy in order to cultivate an attractive investment environment conducive to business performance.

The session also hosted former prime minister Omar Razzaz, who stressed that the circular economy is an opportunity for Jordan to promote economic growth, create jobs and achieve sustainable development.

Razzaz added that the concept of circular economy starts from the design stage by adopting strategies for designing reusable and recyclable products and services, consequently reducing dependence on non-renewable natural resources and raw materials required for the production process.

He also highlighted the need to support enterprises and industries that adopt and apply circular economic concepts through the development of financing plans and programmes, which will enhance the presence of such enterprises and contribute to creating more jobs, especially in the industrial sector in which a significant number of Jordanians are employed.

The event also included a panel discussion featuring several experts, moderated by JSF CEO Nisreen Barakat, who said that the event is part of the forum's efforts to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability and encourage the private sector to embrace it through JSF's studies and interactive sessions with different stakeholders, the statement said.
