AMMAN — The Jordan Smart Cities Association (JSCA) on Wednesday launched an initiative to establish three sustainable cities in the northern, central and southern regions.

The launch took place during workshops featuring the attendance of the Honorary President of the Association HRH Prince Nayef Bin Asem aimed at promoting the establishment of smart cities and energy storage in Arab countries.

The workshops highlighted the need to establish smart city associations in Arab countries in coordination with the Arab Renewable Energy Commission (AREC).

JSCA President Mohamed Taani, stressed the need for a practical transition to using technology in smart cities that promotes social cohesion, artificial intelligence, electric cars and self-sufficiency and reduces aggression against agricultural land and ends indiscriminate construction.

The workshops, held on the sidelines of the Amman-hosted seventh International Forum on Renewable Energy Investment and Energy Efficiency, were held in collaboration with energy companies from Germany, Switzerland, Palestine and Syria that specialise in storage, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
