AMMAN — A joint crisis working group was established by the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Interior, the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), the General Intelligence Department and the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) to monitor the status of Jordanians who are currently residing in Sudan.
According to a Foreign Ministry statement, the group’s primary objective is to devise strategies and procedures that ensure the safety and security of Jordanian citizens amid the tense security situation in Sudan, as there are no safe routes for movement and Sudan's airspace and border crossings remain closed.
The ministry is maintaining constant communication with Jordanian citizens in Sudan through the Jordanian embassy in Khartoum, and is providing citizens with all possible assistance, the statement said.
The ministry urged Jordanian citizens in Sudan to exercise maximum caution and minimise their movement as much as possible. Moreover, they are invited to update their information through an electronic form that has been circulated by the Jordanian embassy in Khartoum.
The ministry reiterated its call to Jordanians in Sudan to reach out to the Jordanian embassy in Khartoum for assistance around the clock. Citizens can call 0024991699416 or 00249915491874 or email [email protected] for assistance. The Operations Centre Unit at the ministry can also be reached by calling 00962795497777.
