AMMAN — A Jordanian student has died in Ukraine and authorities are still investigating the reason behind his death, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.
Ashraf Khasawneh, the ministry’s spokesperson, told The Jordan Times that preliminary investigation indicated that the student died of a heart attack, but he did not disclose his age.
Khasawneh added that preparations are under way to bring the student’s body to Amman.
Meanwhile, a source informed on the issue said the student was killed in a fight and did not die of a heart attack.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that the fight was between the Jordanian student and two Ukrainians on Monday night, and the suspected “perpetrators” are being questioned.
The Ukrainian embassy in Amman said it has not received any information on the incident.
Last year, another Jordanian was found dead in Donetsk, Ukraine, with no details until now about the case.
Thaer Nawaiseh, who graduated from a Ukrainian university in 2010, was running a restaurant with an Egyptian man and both of them were found killed in June 2014.
