AMMAN — Jordanian field hospitals in northern and southern Gaza are maintaining critical medical services for residents, despite the difficult humanitarian conditions caused by the ongoing war, in line with the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people.
Since opening in July, the Jordanian field hospital in Khan Younis has treated 30,226 patients, performed 1,647 major and minor surgeries, and handled 665 cases requiring surgical intervention, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.
The hospital operates 36 beds, two operating rooms, and an intensive care unit.
In northern Gaza, the Jordanian Field Hospital, dubbed Northern Gaza 83, operational since August 12, has received 12,623 patients.
Since then, the hospital has provided comprehensive care, including emergency services, surgery, orthopedics, dentistry, internal medicine, pediatrics, and gynecology, supported by fully equipped emergency, laboratory, and radiology departments.
The facility has 40 beds and continues to support local medical needs despite high population density and limited resources.
The hospitals have also implemented the Royal initiative "Restoring Hope – Prosthetics", fitting 589 upper and lower limb prosthetics for injured civilians, restoring mobility and hope to many.
Recently, the Jordanian field hospital in southern Gaza responded to an urgent case of a 40-year-old Palestinian woman with osteoporosis-related mobility impairment, providing immediate care despite shortages of medications and medical supplies.
These efforts underscore Jordan’s ongoing humanitarian mission in Gaza, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to easing the suffering of the Palestinian people amid challenging conditions.
Jordan runs two military field hospitals in Gaza, one in the Strip's north and was established in 2009 following the war in 2008, and the second is in Khan Younis in the south, which was established in November 2023 at the peak of the Israeli war of aggression on the coastal enclave that erupted on October 7, 2023.
Besides the field hospitals in Gaza, the JAF established the Jordanian field hospital in Nablus in late November 2023.
The Kingdom, in cooperation with the World Central Kitchen, had also dispatched a mobile bakery with a production capacity of 3,500 loaves of bread per hour to Gaza.
Other humanitarian programmes include the land bridge for aid delivery, the Restoring Hope Initiative, which provides prosthetics for amputees, and the evacuation of critical cases to Jordanian hospitals.
