AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah has stressed that Jordan will cooperate with partners and friends to help Lebanon, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Hala Zawati said on Thursday.
Replying to a question on the possibility of providing Lebanon with electricity from Jordan and with Egyptian gas through Jordan and Syria, Zawati said that helping Lebanon was among the top issues that His Majesty discussed during his recent visit to the US and with his regional and international contacts.
The minister stressed the Kingdom’s readiness to provide all possible support to Lebanon, including electric power from the Jordanian grid, and help Beirut receive Egyptian gas through Jordan and Syria, according to a ministry statement.
These issues have been discussed intensively with Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and the US, along with other partners in the international community, the minister said, stressing that talks are ongoing to realise these actions and Jordan “will exert every effort to help their brothers in Lebanon”.
