AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi made a telephone call on Wednesday with Slovenian Foreign Minister TanjaFajon, during which he commended Slovenia's official recognition of the State of Palestine.

Safadi expressed appreciation for the decision, describing it as a "testimony of Slovenia’s commitment to justice, truth, and adherence to international law".

The foreign minister also commended Slovenia’s demand to end the war in Gaza, emphasising Slovenia’s influential role in the Security Council, where it currently holds a non-permanent membership.

Safadi and Fajon also discussed efforts to increase cooperation between the two countries to strengthen their solid friendship and serve their mutual interests.

Also on Wednesday, Sufian Qudah, the ministry’s spokesperson, expressed the Kingdom’s appreciation for Slovenia’s recognition of the State of Palestine, stressing that it is in line with international law and resolutions that call for an end to the occupation and the implementation of the two-state solution, which ensures the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with sovereignty on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He underlined the urgency for the international community to act swiftly to recognise the State of Palestine based on a path that will secure a just and comprehensive peace, uphold the rights of the Palestinias, and ensure security, stability and peace in the region.

Reaffirming the Kingdom’s support for the Palestinians and their right to an independent sovereign state, Qudah reiterated his call on the international community, in particular the Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and adopt a resolution recognising the State of Palestine in accordance with international law and relevant resolutions.
