AMMAN — Minister of State for Public Sector Development Badria Balbisi on Monday at the Prime Ministry met with Syrian Minister of Administrative Development Mohammad Hassan Skaf and his accompanying delegation.
The Syrian delegates are on a visit to the Kingdom to sign a memorandum of understanding between Jordan’s Institute of Public Administration and Syria’s Ministry of Administrative Development, and at review Jordan’s experience in public sector modernisation, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Balbisi highlighted the “strong” ties between Jordan and Syria and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s readiness to share expertise and support Syria’s efforts in developing its administrative system, in line with Royal directives to assist Syria in rebuilding on the principles of unity, stability, and sovereignty.
She outlined the Public Sector Modernisation Roadmap, which spans 10 years and includes seven key components forming part of the Kingdom’s broader national modernisation project, launched by His Majesty King Abdullah at the beginning of Jordan’s second centennial.
The minister noted that eight follow-up sessions with experts and four sessions with secretaries general of government institutions have been held to evaluate the first executive programme (2022–2025), which focused on institutionalising the roadmap’s work, while the second phase (2025–2029) will focus on implementation on the ground.
Balbisi also said that the government is developing an impact assessment framework for legislation and a comprehensive evaluation map for service centres across the Kingdom to ensure efficiency and quality in public service delivery.
Skaf praised Jordan’s leading experience in administrative reform and emphasised the importance of expanding cooperation and exchanging expertise between the two countries to boost public sector performance and human resource development in Syria.
Director of the Institute of Public Administration Siham Khawaldeh attended the meeting.
